is born with ALD
Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) is a deadly brain disease most severely afflicting boys. As young as age 4 it silently begins ravaging their central nervous systems. Doctors often misdiagnose ALD for months, even years. The result is blindness, deafness, seizures, dementia – leading to paralysis or death.
It’s before congress
right now
If enacted it will require (and fund) newborn screening of ALD in every U.S. state. Tell Congress to vote YES! on Aidan’s Law.

States recently
began screening
newborns for ALD
Babies have tested
positive for ALD –
53 #LivesSaved
A few #LivesSaved from recent ALD testing in New York and Connecticut.
New York spends less than $2.50 per baby to test for ALD
That’s less than the national average cost of a cup of coffee.
Screening requires a drop of blood from a baby’s heel
But no new blood is drawn – ALD is added to existing lab tests.
Shouldn’t all states in the US screen their babies for ALD?
There will be 248 #LivesSaved per year once they start.
